Other Fossil Insects from Solnhofen Quarry

Chresmoda obscura is a type of water strider with long protruding legs. It moved across the water just like modern water striders. Pseudosirex is a member of the insect group known as Hymenoptera. Insects in this group are equipped with pairs of skin-like wings. The anterior pair is much larger than the posterior one. Important members of this group include the bees, wasps sand ants. Pseudosirex is a type of wood wasp found in the Solnhofen quarry.
